This week, we focused on designing a detailed 4-step user flow that demonstrates how our solution can guide users, like Ronit, through preserving memories while parting with sentimental objects. Alongside this, we explored the core values that shape our concept, ensuring the experience is meaningful and supportive.

Core Values Shaping the Concept:

  1. Family and Belonging:Strengthening the sense of connection within the family by preserving memories that tell a shared story and reinforce traditions across generations.

  2. Comfort and Emotional Support:Providing emotional guidance throughout the process, offering users comfort while helping them process their loss in a positive and meaningful way.

  3. Relief and Lightening the Load:Reducing the emotional and practical burden of parting with sentimental items, creating a calming and supportive experience for users.

Key Steps in the User Flow:

  1. Starting the Journey:Ronit begins by entering her basic details and answering reflective questions about her goals and connection to her late mother. The app personalizes her experience and provides an emotional guide to support her throughout the process.

  2. Documenting Items:Ronit scans items, such as a teapot, and answers prompts about their significance. The app saves the items in a digital archive, creating an organized and accessible memory library.

  3. Building a Story:Ronit combines multiple items into a cohesive narrative, enriched with photos, audio, and written stories. This creates an interactive memory experience that allows her to relive and share meaningful moments.

  4. Reflecting and Moving Forward:After completing a session, the app summarizes her progress, offers personalized insights, and encourages her to continue at her own pace, making the process manageable and uplifting.

Takeaways:

This week highlighted the importance of combining emotional support with practical tools for memory preservation. The user flow aligns seamlessly with the values of family connection, emotional comfort, and relief, ensuring the solution not only meets users' needs but also uplifts and empowers them.

Stay tuned as we refine the concept further and begin prototyping in Week 9!
