This week, we took a major step forward by focusing on generating solutions for our refined How Might We question: "How might we help second-generation individuals preserve and even enhance their sense of self while parting with sentimental family items?"
What We Accomplished:
Clarified Our Challenge: We framed the problem to address both the emotional and practical aspects of parting with sentimental items.
Generated Over 50 Ideas: Through collaborative brainstorming, we explored diverse solutions spanning emotional, technological, and practical domains.

Key Themes from the Brainstorming:
Emotional Preservation:
Tools for recording stories and memories tied to items.
Rituals or symbolic acts to honor the memories while letting go.
Technology as a Solution:
3D scanning of items to preserve their physical essence digitally.
Apps for categorizing, storing, and sharing memories and items' stories.
Sustainability and Repurposing:
Ideas for transforming heirlooms into modern, functional objects.
Community donation systems that attach emotional value to gifted items.
Personalized Guidance:
Involving experts to provide emotional and practical support during the process.
Step-by-step frameworks for categorizing and deciding the fate of items.

Explored Out-of-the-Box Ideas:
Preserving Scents: Capturing the unique smell of an item or space associated with a loved one.
Talking with the Item: Creating an interactive experience where individuals can "talk" to the item and reflect on its emotional significance.
Connecting with Deceased Loved Ones: Using recorded messages, letters, or virtual experiences to foster a continued sense of connection.
